Expectation vs. Reality
This message explores the stark contrast between expectation and reality on that first Palm Sunday. While crowds celebrated Jesus with palm branches and shouts of "Hosanna," they were actually celebrating a version of Him that didn't exist - an earthly king who would overthrow Rome and restore Israel's political power. Instead, Jesus came riding on a donkey, symbolizing peace rather than military conquest. His kingdom would be established not through political revolution, but through His death and resurrection. This same pattern continues today when we create a customized version of Jesus who fits our preferences, politics, and plans, rather than surrendering to who He truly is. The sermon challenged us to examine whether we're truly following the real King or just a version we've created, and whether we're living ready for His return or simply waving palms in momentary praise.
