CommUNITY

Sep 25, 2024    Pastor Kaleb Crabtree

1. Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-26 together. What stands out to you as you read through it? What can you learn about Biblical community through the comparison that Paul makes to the human body?

2. Read 1 Corinthians 12:15-20 & Ephesians 2:10. Discuss the statement from the video, "Every member of the body matters, and that means you matter!" Share stories of how you or someone you knew didn't realize their gifting but then started to realize it and began using it to glorify God.

3. Read 1 Corinthians 12:25-26. Discuss the statement from the video, "Community thrives when we care for one another." Share stories of how someone in the body of Christ helped, supported, or encouraged you and how it blessed you." How can our community grow in caring for one another?

4. Read John 17:20-21 together as a group. What stands out to you as you read what Jesus prayed? Discuss the statement from the video, "Our community gives the world a glimpse of Jesus." Why do you think that out of everything that Jesus could have prayed over us, He prayed for our unity? Discuss the ways that our unity can have a great impact on the world around us while our disunity can negatively impact the world around us.

End this question by answering this together: If our unity gives the world a glimpse of who Jesus is, what current glimpse of Him are we giving them? What areas do we need to give a better representation of Jesus in our unity?

5. In the video, Kaleb gave us 3 ways that we can live this out:

1. Accept and embrace your unique role in the body,

2. Encourage and value others in their unique roles,

3. Show concern for the hurting.

For the next 3 questions, take some time to practically unpack how you can be better at living these out in your own life. Discuss the ways you want to grow, also lean into the ways that you are already doing these things well in your life!

6. How you can you "accept and embrace your unique role in the body”? Talk about the ways that you are you already doing this and the ways you would like to grow in doing this. Practice this as a group by taking a portion of time to go around the room and specifically say at least one way that you believe God has given you a gift or skill to use for His kingdom.

7. How can you "encourage and value others in their unique roles”? Talk about the ways that you are already trying to do this and the ways you would like to grow in doing this. Go around the room again and specifically encourage one another in your specific gifts. Take the time to share ways that you've seen others use their gifts for the kingdom.

8. How you can "show concern for the hurting?” Talk about the ways that you are already doing this and the ways you would like to grow in doing this. Practice this by identifying at least one need that you guys can meet to be a blessing to others and serve as a group. This could be meeting an individual need that someone knows of in someone's life or planning a way to serve together in someway.

End the night by praying for The Well community. Pray over the fall ahead of us and the different ways the Lord wants to grow and shape our hearts to impact our community!
