Strong Friendships are an Investment
1. Read 1 Samuel 18-20 together. Discuss the things that stand out to you the most about David & Jonathan’s friendship. Try to come up with a list of 10 things that stand out about their friendship and for each of the things on the list, give one way that our community can grow in this area.
2. Read 2 Samuel 9:6-7. Discuss this point from the video, "strong friendships look out for each other's interests." Share some stories from your own life when you have had a friend look out for your best interest. What are some ways that this group look out for each other’s interests?
3. Read 1 Samuel 20:20-22. Discuss this point from the video, "strong friendships offer real help." Share some stories from your own life of a time that a friend showed up for you in a time of need. What are some ways that this group can offer real help to one another?
4. Read 1 Samuel 20:31. Discuss this point from the video, "strong friendships stand up for and defend each other." Share some stories from your own life where a friend stood up for you when no one else would or a time when you stood up for a friend when no one else would. What are some ways that this group can stand up for and defend each other?
5. Read 1 Samuel 20:41. Discuss the point from the video, "strong friendships display genuine feelings." Do you have trouble displaying genuine feelings and emotions in your friendships with people? What are some of the ways that this group can genuinely show emotion and feeling toward one another?
6. The 3 areas to go home and grow in were: (1) Choose what type of friend you want to be, (2) Offer real help beyond words, and (3) Pray for meaningful friendships. Discuss one way that you want to grow in each of these three areas. Also discuss one way that our Well community can grow in these three areas.
7. Read John 13:34-35. How do these verses apply to a community setting? Discuss specifically how when we live this out as a community it affects the world around us. List some specific ways.
8. Talk about what you're excited for in The Well this fall. What ways are you looking to grow in your relationships with the Lord and some of the goals you have for yourself in your walk with God?
End your time by having a few people from the group end in praying for one another.
