What You See

Sep 9, 2020    Pastor Kaleb Crabtree

1) Read Proverbs 4:23 as a group. What stands out about this passage of scripture as you read it?

2) As you think about the phrase, “keep your heart with all vigilance” from Proverbs 4:23, how does this relate to what you allow yourself to look at? How do you keep your heart with vigilance by protecting your eyes? What do you personally need to do to keep your heart by protecting it in the things you allow your self to see?

3) Read Galatians 5:24 as a group. How do we crucify the flesh when it comes to the things we allow ourselves to look at? Do you personally have an area that you can think of where your flesh needs to be crucified in order for you to better guard your heart? If so, what are somethings you can do to begin this process of crucifying the flesh and better guarding your heart by the things you look at?

4) Read Psalm 119:37 as a group. What are some of the worthless things that we allow ourselves to indulge in and turn our eyes to? How does this directly affect our heart and the way we live our lives?

5) Think about the second part of that verse, “give me life in your ways.” What are God's ways? Discuss as a group how finding life in the ways of God helps to build stronger gates which leads to more effectively guarded hearts. Do you find life in God's ways? Why or why not?

6) Close by praying Psalm 119:37 with the group. Challenge them this week to commit Psalm 119:37 to memory and pray it daily in the morning and the evening.
