Week 2
Discussion Questions:
1. What have you learned or gained in this month's discussion of spiritual warfare? How have you personally grown and what are your personal takeaways so far?
2. Read Romans 6 together and discuss this passage as a group. What is being said? How are you personally challenged by it?
3. After discussing the passage, talk about the tension of the flesh. Specifically discuss how our sin (bad decisions) is not always spiritual warfare, they are just poor choices that we make in our lives. Discuss this statement: If you’ve been given a new identity, why are the same patterns and temptations such a struggle in your life?
4. Dying to sin is critical. Spend some time talking through certain sin patterns in your life that you want to break free from. Why do you find yourself continuing in those patterns in your life? And how can this group hold you accountable in those areas of your life that you want to break free from?
5. Look at Romans 6:16-18 together. When we seek to gratify our flesh, what do we think the benefits of our sin are (even though we know there are no true benefits to sin, it only leads to death)? Then spend time answering this question: what are the true benefits of righteousness that are found through Grace in Christ Jesus?
6. As you end tonight, read Romans 6:23. This is a well known verse used in giving the gospel to someone. Talk as a group about how you might use this text of scripture to evangelize to a specific person in your life. Think of a real situation with a real person and how you would use this verse to bring up a gospel conversation.
CHALLENGE: Invite someone to the Rooted Worship Night on Friday at 7p and to The Well next Wednesday at 7.
