"Follow Me"
1. Read Matthew 4:18-22. What stands out to you as you read about the call of these 4 men?
2. Discuss how hard it would be for the disciples to leave their life in that moment to follow Jesus. Would you personally have a hard time responding to Jesus in this moment and being obedient like these men? What are some things in your life that God has called you to walk away from to follow Him?
3. Why do you think Jesus chose these men to follow Him? Why would Jesus choose these men when no one else would have chosen them? What do you learn from Jesus choice of disciples?
4. Read Acts 4:1-22. What stands out to you as you read through this story? Discuss specifically what your life would have to look like for people to notice that you've "been with Jesus".
5. Consider the fact that the disciples would have only been in their late teens to early 20's when Jesus called them. A few short years later, Jesus ascends to Heaven and these young men now lead the church at an age not far from everyone in The Well. In what way does that encourage you? How does that challenge you in your walk with Jesus and living out your calling?
6. Talk about some people in your life who you can clearly see that they've "been with Jesus." How does seeing that in their life impact your own life?
7. Take a few minutes to discuss the main idea for tonight: What Jesus is calling you to is greater than what He's calling you from. Talk about some of the things that God might be calling you to.
8. What excuses do you need to drop? Come up with a list of excuses as a group that people make for not doing something difficult when it comes to faith. Be personal in this time and add some of your own excuses to the list with the group. Have one person write all of these down. Then after you've spent time talking about these things, rip the list up and spend some time praying for one another.
