Discussion Questions:

Begin your time by reading Philippians 1 together as a group. As you read, listen for the themes we’ve talked about over the past three weeks: God is still working, God can use our circumstances, Jesus belongs at the center, and Christ is worth following no matter what.

1. After hearing Philippians 1 and the recap of the past three weeks, what verse, phrase, or idea stood out to you the most and why?

2. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that God is still working even when we can't see what He's doing. Is there an area of your life right now where you're struggling to trust that God is working? What specifically makes that difficult for you?

3. In Philippians 1:12–14, Paul recognizes that God can use circumstances he never would have chosen. What is something you're currently walking through that you wouldn't have chosen for yourself? How might God be wanting to work in you or through you in the middle of it?

4. Philippians 1:12–14 also shows that Paul's circumstances became an opportunity for other people to see Jesus. If someone watched the way you handled your current circumstances, what would they learn about what you believe about God?

5. In Philippians 1:15–18, Paul refuses to make everything about himself. His focus is that Christ is being proclaimed. Where do you find yourself most easily making things about you (approval, relationships, comparison, success, recognition, being right, or something else) and why? What would it look like for Jesus to move back to the center of that area?

6. Read Philippians 1:20–21 together again. Paul had settled something in his heart before his circumstances could test him. What is something you feel God is asking you to settle or resolve in your own walk with Him? What makes that difficult?

7. Look back at Philippians 1:27–30. Paul calls the Philippians to live in a way worthy of the Gospel, stand firm, strive together, and not be controlled by fear. What would living “No Matter What” look like for you in this current season? What is one specific area where you want to trust Jesus more, surrender something to Him, or choose obedience this week?
