Who Are You Becoming?
1. Begin your time together by reading Philippians 2:12–18. What is one thing that instantly puts you in a bad mood?
2. In Philippians 2:12–13, Paul tells believers to work out their salvation and then reminds them that God is working in them. What’s the difference between working for your salvation and working out your salvation? How does knowing that God is working in you change the way you approach following Jesus?
3. Paul tells believers to do everything without grumbling or disputing (verse 14). Why do you think it’s so easy to let frustration, negativity, or complaining become our default response when life gets difficult? How can we honestly acknowledge pain or frustration without allowing bitterness to take control of our attitudes?
4. Read Philippians 2:14–15 again. Paul calls Christians to shine as lights in the world. Where do you think it’s most difficult for us as young adults to live differently from the culture around us? What might it look like to reflect Jesus in that environment this week?
5) Think about a difficult situation you’re facing right now. Is it shaping you to become more like Jesus, or are you allowing it to make you more frustrated, bitter, or distant from God?
6. Read Philippians 12:16-18 again. In verses 16–18, Paul emphasizes holding fast to the word of life and finding joy even in difficult circumstances. What helps you remain grounded in God’s truth when your feelings and circumstances are pulling you in another direction? What role can Scripture, prayer, Christian community, and worship play in helping us remain faithful?
7. What’s one specific situation this week where you need to let Jesus shape your response instead of letting your circumstances dictate your attitude?
8. End by praying together. Be completed with prayer By 8:50pm for the host to close groups and reset chairs.
