Week Four

Jun 23, 2021    Pastor Kaleb Crabtree

1. Read Matthew 5:5 together as a group. What initially comes to mind when you think about meekness? Why is this such an important trait to display as a Citizen of the kingdom of Heaven?

2. The idea of being meek comes from the same word to describe reigning in a stallion. The idea here is that there is a submission to authority. Meekness is to have strength and power under constraint. Is this a trait that you display in your life? Why or why not?

3. Read Psalm 37:1-11 together as a group. What stands out from this passage of Scripture? Specifically, what ways does this passage of Scripture highlight meekness as a trait? What things can you take from this Scripture to better display meekness in your own life?

4. Read James 3:13-18 together as a group. What stands out to you in this passage of Scripture? What does this passage say about how we should live and how we shouldn’t live our lives? These things will either aid us in displaying meekness or get us further away from displaying it in our lives. Take a minute and discuss how to apply this text to your own life. Is there anything that this Scripture points out that you need to work on in your own life?

5. The main question in this series is: do I display the traits of a citizen of the kingdom of God? As you think about the first 3 traits we’ve discussed where do you stand. Has God revealed anything in your life that needs to look different? Take a few minutes and discuss what God has been helping you see over the past few weeks.
