Jacked Up Genealogy
This message confronts us with a challenging truth: every family is broken and desperately needs the redemptive grace of Jesus Christ. Through an exploration of the genealogy we see in Matthew one, we discover that Jesus came from a family line filled with liars, adulterers, murderers, prostitutes, and thieves. Abraham lied about his wife. Isaac repeated the same deception. Jacob stole his brother's inheritance. Judah sold his own brother into slavery. David committed adultery and murder. Yet this messy, scandalous family tree became the lineage through which the Savior of the world entered humanity. The profound lesson here is that our family's past does not determine our future with God. We don't need a clean history for God to do amazing things in our lives. This genealogy reminds us that comparing our family to others is futile because every family has brokenness, just in different forms. We're challenged to make the most of every single day we have with our families, not just managing schedules but intentionally discipling hearts toward Christ in the everyday moments around dinner tables and ordinary moments.
