Samuel
Discussion Questions:
1. What has impacted you in this series so far? What has challenged you in your walk with the Lord, specifically as a young adult?
2. Read Samuel's call of the Lord found in 1 Samuel 3:1-18. What stands out as you read through this text of scripture? Discuss as a group, how intentionally do you listen to the voice of the Lord in your own life? Keep in mind as you read that he is a young teenager when he receives this call from the Lord.
3. Look again at 1 Samuel 3:19 together. What stands out in it? Discuss this question, how are you growing spiritually? Be intentionally reflective, how are you growing as you walk with the Lord right now as you sit in your seats tonight?
4. Read and discuss 1 Samuel 15:22. What stands out as you read it? Discuss the idea of obedience over sacrifice. Why does God consider obedience better than sacrifice in our lives? What does it look like when we live as if sacrifice is greater than our obedience?
5. Read and discuss Samuel's words in 1 Samuel 12:23-24. What stands out in this passage? Consider verse 24 for a few moments, share with the group some of the great things the Lord has done for you. Also, discuss what it truly looks like to “fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all of your heart.”
6. Read 1 Samuel 28:3 together. What does this verse tell you about the impact that Samuel's life had on the nation of Israel? Samuel's life was marked by faithfulness to the Lord, listening to his words and following his direction. In this series, we are discussing what we would like to see God do in and through our lives while we are young. After seeing the impact that Samuel had on the nation of Israel because he listened to the direction of the Lord, what does that tell you about the impact that God can have through your life if you’ll be obedient to his direction and leading? Discuss this as a group, what do you want people to remember your life for? What kind of legacy for the kingdom of God would you like to leave behind as you live your life?
Challenge: Read 1 Samuel 12:23-24 together as a group again before closing the night. Keep these verses in front of you this week and commit them to memory.
