Forgive Us Our Debts
Discussion Questions:
1) Do you personally have a difficult time forgiving others? If so, why do you think it is so difficult?
2) Read Matthew 6:14-15, Mark 11:25-26, Matthew 18:34-35. What stands out about prayer in these passages of scripture? What stands out about forgiveness?
3) These passages directly connect the forgiveness we receive from our Father and the forgiveness that we give to others. How have you seen this connection in your life? Is it easier to receive forgiveness from God than to give it to other people?
4) The ability to forgive doesn’t come from our own ability or strength but from the spirit of God working through us. How often do you pray for the ability to forgive other people? Is it something that you consistently pray for or fail to pray about? What can you do this week to pray more intentionally for God to help you forgive people who have hurt you in life?
5) At this point in this series, what has stood out to you the most? In what ways have you seen your prayer life grow? What do you need to do moving forward to pray more intentionally?
6) Don’t leave tonight without acknowledging if there is someone you need to forgive. Talk as a group right now about some specific people you may need to forgive in your life or some specific situations. Then, take time this week to pray and ask God to help you forgive these people and have a conversation with them this week!
