2 John
Discussion Questions:
1. What have been some of your takeaways as we’ve studied 1-3 John together? What has God been teaching you lately as we’ve gone through this series in The Well?
2. Read 2 John together. Spend some time discussing these verses. What is being said and what stands out as you read through them?
3. Look specifically at 2 John 1-6 together. Spend some time discussing why the truth is so critically important to believers. Also, spend some time discussing as a group the relationship between truth and love. Discuss the danger of living a Christian walk while divorcing the concepts of truth and love from one another.
4. Read 2 John 6 together. If love really is doing what God commanded and His command is to love one another, discuss as a group why loving other people is such a difficult thing to do. Do you find loving people difficult? If so, why is that? Discuss what effectively loving one another in this group looks like.
5. Read 2 John 7-13 together. Look at verse 8 and discuss what diligence in a walk with Christ practically looks like. Do you demonstrate diligence in your walk with Christ? Discuss openly the areas that you believe your walk with the Lord needs to grow.
6. Look at verses 10-11 together. What does this text say about how we should handle those not presenting the truth of the Gospel? What does this say about the importance of the presentation of the true Gospel? There are so many false and deceitful messages being presented that try to present themselves as the Gospel when they are not the Gospel at all. Take a few moments in your group to simply discuss the importance of presenting the Gospel in our world today knowing that many false teachings are out there. What does this mean for the urgency of the Gospel in our own lives? End this question by each sharing one person that you hope to reach with the Gospel this calendar year. End your time as a group writing all of those names down, sharing the list with one another and committing as a group to praying over those Gospel sharing opportunities. Have multiple people pray, each praying over one of those names and one of those opportunities to share the Gospel.
