Discussion Questions :

1. Read 1 John 2:1-6 together. Discuss these verses as a group. What stands out as you read them? What do these verses say about God and what do they say about people? Verse 6 (our focus verse for the week) says ‘those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did’ Answer this question as a group: From what you know about Jesus, how did He live His life? What needs to change in your life to live as Jesus lived?

2. Read 1 John 2:7-14 together. Discuss these verses as a group. What stands out as you read them. What in these verses challenges the way you’re currently living towards other people?

3. Read 1 John 2:15-20 together. Discuss these verses as a group. What stands out as you read them. Discuss what living for the world looks like. How do you struggle with this as a believer?

4. Read 1 John 2:21-29 together. Discuss these verses as a group. What stands out as you read them? Verse 24 says “remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning.” Discuss as a group what it looks like and takes to remain faithful to the truth that you know. In what ways is this difficult? In what ways are you growing in faithfulness in your walk with God?

5. What are your main takeaways from 1 John 2? Have each person in the group share something that they learned/are taking away.
