Compassion

This message challenges us to examine the depth of our compassion and whether we're willing to move from sympathy to action. Drawing from Matthew 9:35-36, we're reminded that Jesus didn't just feel sorry for the crowds—He was moved with compassion because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. The distinction is profound: compassion literally means 'to suffer with,' not just 'to feel sorry for.' We see this embodied in the Good Samaritan who didn't just pass by with sympathy but stopped, engaged, and sacrificed. The message walks us through powerful stories of transformation, from orphanages in Albania to slums in Kenya, asking us repeatedly: Do we have compassion? The harvest is ripe in the world, with people desperate to hear the gospel for the first time. Yet compassion without action is meaningless. James 2:17 reminds us that faith without works is dead—and the same applies to our compassion. The Great Commission isn't just a suggestion; it's a calling that requires us to go, make disciples, and trust that Jesus goes with us. Whether we're called across the ocean or across the street, the question remains: Will we let God use us, or are we more interested in being blessed than being a blessing?
