Don't be Anxious

Oct 13, 2021    Pastor Kaleb Crabtree

1. Read Matthew 6:25-34 together as a group. Unpack this text together. What’s stands out as you read through this passage of Scripture?

2. Read Matthew 6:19-24 and verses 25-34 together as a group. How do these two passages of Scripture connect to make one continued thought? How does reading these together give you a better understanding of not “laying up treasures on earth, but instead laying up treasures in heaven?”

3. Read Matthew 6:27 together as a group. In what ways do the anxieties of life take away from our lives rather than adding to our lives? In what ways does this passage of Scripture (Matthew 6:25-34) encourage you regarding the topic of anxiety and worry?

4. Read Matthew 6:32-33 together as a group. Your Heavenly Father knows what you need, but there’s an incredible difference between the things we need and the things we want. A lot of times we call our wants needs when they aren’t needs at all and they don’t align with Gods plan or purpose whatsoever.

What does “seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” look like practically as you live out your life day to day? In what ways do you need to grow in your walk with God for this to be your daily mindset?

5. Read Matthew 6:34 together as a group. So many of our anxious and worried thoughts come from focusing on tomorrow. As we close tonight, let’s just be transparent and vulnerable with one another about the things that are currently causing us anxiety and worry about what’s ahead. Talk about these things as a group and pray for one another individually about these particular areas of anxiety and worry.

Call to action: Read Matthew 6:33 together again as you close. Keep this verse in front of you this week. Commit it to memory and let it continually be a reminder to focus first on His kingdom!
