Reading: Numbers 13 & 14:1-19
Think about a situation where you were afraid. I know we can all think back to a time where fear was dominant. Typically fears are developed from what is unknown. We operate out of fear of what we don’t know, rather than living out of faith that God is in control.
In this story we see a group of people who are fearful because of what they can visibly see. They see a strong and fit army that they believe are unconquerable. Joshua and Caleb are on the opposite spectrum and their perspective is based on who they know God to be, rather than what their enemies look like.
My question for you today is this: What perspective do you build your life on? At the end of the day it’s all about what you choose to allow yourself to see. When something adverse comes into your life, do you look at it from the perspective of a victorious God who is in control or do you look at it from a place of fear because your mind can’t process the outcome? Choosing to live out of faith instead of fear is an all-out trust in God. So what perspective do you live by? Do you live by faith or do you allow yourself to be guided by fear?
Prayer: God, please help me to live my life faithfully. Help me not to be distracted by what causes me to be fearful. Would you open my eyes to see how you are working each day? Father help me to know that you’re in control and that your ways are perfect.
