Reading: Numbers 13 & 14:1-19

In Numbers 13:2, God promised to give the land of Canaan to the people of Israel. Ten of the men who spied out the land displayed fear when they came back and told the Israelites that the people were too strong, the cities were fortified, and  there was no way that they could take the land. (Numbers 13:33 – “we seemed to ourselves and to them like grasshoppers.”)

Caleb displayed faith by saying, “Let’s go up at once and occupy the land, for we are well able to overcome it!” He knew  God already said “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel.” He believed what God said and no amount of giants or obstacles would keep them from occupying the land because God said He was giving it to them.

The end result of the story is that those who chose fear over faith died in the wilderness and never got to see the promised land. Caleb and Joshua, on the other hand, because of their faith, got to experience the promised land and possess it.

Don’t let fear keep you from experiencing all the miracles and wonders God is going to do in our church in the coming season! By faith, let’s give, pray, and believe that the best is yet to come! Our God will see us through!

Prayer: God, increase our faith and remove from us the spirit of fear. We cast ourselves upon your sovereignty and believe that you will see us through!
