March 23

Joshua 3:5 Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonder among you.”

The nation of Israel is getting ready to go into the promised land. Forty years of being in the wilderness is coming to an end and the fulfillment of God’s promise is right in front of them. The day before they are going to cross the Jordan River and go into the promised land, Joshua tells them to consecrate themselves.

Consecrate is synonymous with sanctify. Joshua is telling the people to dedicate this day to set themselves apart from common things to wholly focus on the Lord. If the people will commit to making the day before the big day a holy day, then God will show up as He leads them into the promised land.

The service this weekend at Grace is probably the biggest day we’ve ever had in the history of our church. Will you commit to making today, the day before the big day, a day wholly focused on the Lord? If we will commit to setting this day apart, then I believe God will show up and do something wonderful in our midst.

Prayer: God, I dedicate today to you. I’m asking that you show up in a powerful way in our service this weekend. We want to see you do something amazing in our midst. My heart is willing, sacrificial, and full of faith. I look forward to seeing all that you are going to do. Amen.
