Reading: Numbers 13 & 14:1-19

Numbers 13:31-33 “Then the men who had gone up with him said, ‘We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” So, they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.’”

Moses sent 12 spies to spy out the land of Canaan, the Promised Land. The spies returned after 40 days and 10 of the spies gave this bad report. They didn’t see a land that God was providing for them. Instead, they saw the obstacles that could potentially keep them from occupying the land.

Whenever God makes a promise and a situation doesn’t look like the promise that was made, we have two choices: to see the obstacle or to see the opportunity. Seeing the opportunity in difficulty can only happen by faith.

It is easy to see the difficulties and the obstacles in this season. But, could you commit to asking God to give you eyes of faith to see the opportunity? After all, God will always fulfill His promises.

Prayer: God, I know that you have called me to live a life of faith. So, please give me eyes of faith in this season. I want to see what you see. Amen.
