Reading: 1 Kings 18

In verse 21, the word “falter” can also be translated “to limp, halt, hop, dance, or leap”. In other words, how long will you dance between following God and idols. The Israelites were spiritually a lukewarm people that wanted to give devotion to God and Baal. God is a jealous God and He will not share His glory with another.

Matthew 6:24 says, “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Why is it that only a small portion of Christians invest in the church?

Why is it that Christians get uncomfortable when challenged to give to God?

The reason is that many of us Christians love money more than we love God. We are failing to realize that we cannot serve money and God at the same time. By not investing in God’s Kingdom, we prove by our actions that we love money and not God. (Matthew 6:24).

Prayer: God, please forgive me for caring more about the pleasures of this world than Your Kingdom. Help me to re-prioritize my life here so that I can invest in what will last for eternity.
